Friday the 13th

Wow, this week has been HECTIC!!
I have been so busy with work this week, I have no idea where the time went.  I havent even had time to blog about thanksgiving dinner last weekend but I’ll be posting the pics tomorrow sometime and those will speak louder than words, lol.
This week things got kicked up a notch at work.  I seem to be involved in almost EVERYTHING at the moment – I know that wont last but its sort of necessary right now.  Of course though, when I get busy like this I start to obsess about failing so thats been a major challenge this week.  I keep telling myself, “if they thought you were flunking they wouldnt have given you that new huge account”, or “if you couldnt do this job God wouldnt have put you here!” and so on and so forth.
I got to go to a special dinner the other night and network with some americans so that was pretty cool.  I was sitting at dinner with some people from pittsburgh, some of our competitors and my bosses dad (who is sort of also my boss) and we had such a good time!  The food was great, the conversation was hillarious and I got home later that night feeling like I was really starting to understand this new industry I’ve embarked on.  Another cool thing was that the co-ordinator of the dinner got up before we ate and asked the blessing on the food, something that isnt usually done in public anymore.
Then the next day we conducted this big tour at the greenhouse and again, I felt like I was really becoming a part of things.  I went on the tour and had a good conversation with a potential client without stuttering or flipping over my feet so that was a real accomplishment in my eyes 🙂  Since then I’ve been in and out of meetings and my brain has been doing some serious over time.
So when this morning kicked off to a bad start, all I could do was grit my teeth, trust God to get me through it and pay no attention to the fact that its Friday the 13th today.
First, my alarm didnt go off so I woke up at 7:45 when I should have been at work for 6:30 this morning due to an important task that should have been done early.  So after calling my boss and sounding lame even to my ears, I quickly got dressed and took off for work.  On the way, I pulled through Tim Hortons (seriously, go without coffee??) and as soon as I took my first sip I spilled it on me – all over my pants, in the most embarrassing way!
So then I had to run home and change, but when I pulled into the drive way I almost ran over an old person and their dog.  After being chastised I ran into the building with my suspicous wet area covered by my coat and headed down the hall for home.  I burst through my door, throwing my keys one way and my coat another and within 1 minute I had on a new pair of pants.  I picked up my coat and reached for my keys to leave but then oh oh!
I couldnt find my keys!
After much praying and foot stomping I located them and bolted out the door.  I took a 2 second opportunity to ask my building superintendent to hold me (ha ha, Larry’s so cool) and then ran out the door, got in the car and headed to work.
Ladies and Gents, I woke up at 7:45 and after all that, I was STILL at work for 8:20am.  I am so pro.

  1. i’m imagining the simultaneous foot-stomping and prayer.  it’s a great visual.  better when you throw in the peed pants though- you should have switched those two events bern.  honestly, do you ever think of the reader?
