Festivities Abound

Last weekend my sisters and I had our annual "Sisters Sleepover" and as usual, there were some highlights. We gathered together in Paulines kitchen as usual to put the finishing touches on our edible contributions and then lounged around in the livingroom eating, opening gifts and being just plain silly 🙂 Desiree brought her rabbit and then spent a lot of time chasing it away from the gifts, Sarah brought her baby and then spent a lot of time watching us all fuss over her with our own versions of "baby talk", Melissa gave us the goods on her upcoming move to the other side of the country and Joan snapped a photo with her new camera at every opportunity, that is – when she wasnt holding Sarah’s baby that is… 😀  Pauline, as usual, stayed level headed and calm until the candy teeth came out and she had to model them. Seriously Pauline, that was one sweet boudoir shot 😛

The next day was our annual LeBrun family Christmas party at mom and dads, and I had a lot of fun with all 6 of my nieces and nephews together under one roof. I had all but one (Sarah’s baby) together in a circle on the kitchen floor for a riveting game of "goose, goose, duck!" – Rilynn changed the name and I think it sounds better her way :). Greg got to play trains with Elliot, and I got to wear Rilynns tiara. I also spent about 10 minutes taking turns playing the recorder with my little princess banana, Anne. She was SO cute, she would take a deep breath and then blow out a C-note on the recorder as loud as she could before handing it to me with a "you tuwn!". I’d take it and trill off a few notes and she would get this look on her face like she just thought of the BEST idea and then take it back from me, take a deep breath and blw out the C-note again… it was really really cute. Noah had a chair pulled up to the buffet table for about an hour or so, just swinging his little legs and stuffing his face – later, I found him in his room laying on his bed because he had eaten too much. While I rubbed his tummy he seized the opportunity to ask me for Legos and a bumblebee transformer for Christmas…. what a cutie. And yes – I’m working on it 🙂

On Sunday we got hit with the most impossible snow storm, as did the rest of the province so once Natasha and I realized we couldnt get the cars out (this was realized when both our cars got stuck in the middle of the road that the neighbors shovelled us out and pushed our cars back in the driveway…) we decided to make it a snow day.  We bundled up in layers and made the trek to the convenience store to buy candy and diet coke and then when we got home we decided to make snow angels in the backyard. For some reason mine didnt have a head so I made a big happy face and then it just looked like a gingerbread man with wings, but oh well 😀  We also snow wrestled and threw snowballs at the house before going inside to thaw out with some hot choc-nog.

The rest of my week has been spent preparing for the REAL festivities which begin this Friday for me. We have Gregs work party that night, our own Christmas party on Saturday, Christmas visits on Sunday, and then its Christmas eve!  I’ve been baking up a storm, wrapping gifts, doing last minute shopping and having nightly panic attacks, all so I can just relax by the time the weekend comes. 🙂

I probably wont write again until after the holidays so Merry Christmas, I hope you all have a blessed and safe holiday as you celebrate the birth of Christ 🙂

  2. Hey Bernie, I can’t believe I’ve been missing out on all the of the Lebrun family blogging! I went to Jay’s page, which lead me to Joan’s, which lead me to yours… I bet it just goes on and on! Being one of very few cousins that actually lives far away from the others, it would make sense for me of all people to make the effort to stay in touch, huh? Well, anyways, I’ll work on it. Nice to see you guys had a grand time at the Sister Sleepover. I didn’t even know you guys did that. That’s really cool. Anyways, thought I’d say hello. 🙂
