Babysitter Extraodiniare.

Last night I babysat my 3 year old neice Rilynn while Pauline and her husband Greg went to a hockey game. I got to their place around 5:30pm and while they got ready Ry and I jumped on the bed, played in her playroom and played kissy-monster – a truly classic game 🙂 After Pauline moved the car seat into my car and did her ‘obsessive mommy’ thing I bundled the little peanut up and off we went to bulkbarn to buy treats for my bunny.
At bulkbarn she insisted on carrying the basket which is half her size so it was really cute watching her lug it down the aisle. As we packed up dried peas, banana chips and pumpkin seeds she watched everything with wide eyes and would occasionally look up at me in wonder and exclaim "oh I get it!". Then we would drop the bag into the basket and she’d haul it down the aisle a little further.  She reminded me SO much of Bex at that age, always wanting to help with the house work and just putting everything she had into it 🙂
Afterward we went to Mc Dees for dinner and a crack at the play zone, and then from there we went to my place so we could play with the cat and bunny. Let me say, I do NOT have a kid friendly home. I’m 30, I’m focussed, and I’m fussy – thats just the way it is, so if you add a 3 year old to the mix it get interesting.  After explaining to her that I dont have toys she toddled around my apartment collecting things. In the end, she had a nice little pile of "toys" on the floor consisting of an unopened cylander of mousse, a decorative glass ball filled with hair shining serum, an empty photo frame, the board for chinese checkers, (2) 5lb weights, a plastic tube from the storage room and some hairbands and various other objects from around my home. While we were playing she slipped a headband on but placed it tiara style across her forehead. Suddenly playing a game I knew well, I grabbed a headband and did the same thing. "Are we princesses?" I asked Rilynn, just as she placed yet another headband on, this time on top of her head over top the other and behind her ears properly. "Pfffft!" she says, "Im nawt a pwincess! I’m a soldier!!" and rising to her feet she brandished my toothbrush at me….
Whats wrong with being a princess??
The night ended back at Pauline and Gregs where I put her to bed in little pink pjs and laid down beside her until she fell asleep.  When they got home at 10:30pm, they found us both curled up in her bed fast asleep, her little face pressed against mine and her little arm thrown across me in one of the best cuddles ever 🙂
