I really have no idea where to begin! I dont want to fall into the bridal trap of recounting every second of every day but I dont want to leave anything out either so hopefully I can find the balance here.
On Saturday, June 14, 2008 Greg and I got married. Its been a whirlwind from the moment Greg proposed 6 months ago… bridal shows, fittings, meetings with caterers, decorators and florists but we had so much fun with all of it. Before we knew it, the day was almost upon us and we were both excited to enter this new chapter of our lives. The Friday before the wedding day we all assembled at the church in London for the rehearsal and then went off to Swiss Chalet for the rehearsal dinner. We had 21 people at our table and everyone had a great time. After many well wishes and good byes, Pauline and I took Gregs kids and headed to our hotel for the night. The hotel room was a gift from one of the Gregs co-workers and we certainly put it to good use! 4 girls in one room makes for a lot of shoes, hair products and general chaos 🙂
The next morning I woke up at 6:30am with incredible feelings of peace and excitement. The 4 of us walked to Tim Hortons for breakfast and by 10am we were at the salon for our hair and manicure appointments. I had changed my mind at the very last minute on how I was going to wear my hair because my mom made me a gorgeous veil to wear and I loved the way it turned out. Very southern belle, I liked it alot 🙂
We headed to the church after that and thats where things get a bit blurry. People were coming and going out of the dressing rooms, the pastor came and prayed with us, my mother in law came in and cried when she saw me in my dress, my mom and I had a moment together and the photographer was there in the midst of it all taking photos and immortalizing the moments. Everything was moving so fast, so many people talking and moving and then suddenly I was ushered out of the room and into the hallway, my dad took my arm, the music changed, people stood and then… there was only Greg.
The Pastor delivered a beautiful sermon, we exchanged rings and spoke vows and without ever taking our eyes from each other, our lives changed and we became husband and wife. The rest of the day went beautifully… We had amazing weather and everything from the smoothie bar and appetizer hour to the dinner and final speeches went perfectly. Everyone enjoyed the food and the classical musicians we hired, and our parents and wedding party had really nice, heart-felt things to say to the two of us.
For our honeymoon, Greg and I spent a week in Cape Cod and on Martha’s Vineyard. It was an amazing week of touring museums, whale watching on the Atlantic and taking long walks on the ocean shore. The week ended too soon but we were both excited to come home and begin our lives living together. There’s lots of unpacking to do, and tons of laundry, but at least we dont have to say goodbye anymore 🙂
PS – I’ll post the pics tomorrow night!!
