Our 1 year Anniversary

On Sunday, Greg and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary! I can’t believe its already been a year, but like so many have commented, I also cant believe its ONLY been a year. We feel like we’ve always been together. This past year has seen a lot of changes, many of them I’ve blogged about on a regular basis so I’ll spare you the details :). To celebrate our anniversary, we spent the weekend being very lazy and enjoying each others company – our favourite thing to do.

On Saturday we both had things we had to do for the morning, but by 2pm we were together and on our way to Shedden to pick up our new doggy, Casper. So far, we only see her on weekends but when we move into the house she’ll come home with us for good. So we picked her up and headed for the Rosy Rhubarb Festival, an annual tradition in the small little town of Shedden, Ontario. We walked around, browsed the vendors booths just had a leisurely afternoon in the sun. The we walked the town and shopped at some of the local garage sales before bringing Casper back to the farm and heading out ourselves. Because the day was still so beautiful, we headed to Port Stanley and spent the rest of the evening walking the streets and eating perch on a patio overlooking the lake.

On Sunday we exchanged gifts over breakfast; The first year wedding anniversary is PAPER, so it was neat to see how creative we got. I had unwound a whole role of toilet paper and wrote love messages on all the squares before winding it back up. I gave him that with a bathroom book. He got me tickets to the coming Serena Ryder concert at the Grand Theater – front row tickets!!  Some people wont get it, but that was one of our first dates – Serena Ryder performed at Montebello Park in St. Catharines and people kept getting in front of me. I’m so short I had a hard time seeing, so this was a really romantic gift from my sweetie :).

After church Greg took me to Eldon House – its a historical home that I totally adore, and on June 14 they actually allow you to go behind the ropes to get a close look at the furnishings, and into the basement and attic. It was a rare treat for us both and afterwards we went to Montana’s for a late lunch, early dinner.

For the evening, Greg drove me out to Bayfield, a tiny little village that reminds me of NOTL. We checked in at a cute little hotel there and spent the rest of the night reading our books by the pool, wandering the gardens and petting some really adorable horses. The next morning we had breakfast in the dining-room then spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon touring the little shops and buying cute things for the house.

It was such an amazing anniversary, but what amazes me even more is that even after a year of living together we still had so much to talk about with each other, and we’re even closer as best friends then ever. I cant think of anyone I’d rather spend my time with, and I’m forever grateful to God for bringing him into my life :).

I use food to show love, I make things because it helps me connect to my inner self, and I use social media because it's how I connect to other like-minded people. My life happens between the kitchen, the craft room and the gardens. This blog is where I keep track, work it out, and share my ideas. Feel free to share your thoughts back with me!
